Top 3 Liposuction Procedures

English: Plastic Surgeon Vishal Kapoor, MD per...

Image via Wikipedia

As a dermatologist, one of the services I provide is helping people change the shape of their bodies to more closely resemble what they feel would be the most attractive.

Liposuction has been around since the 1960s when European physicians first started investigating the procedure. From rather shaky beginnings, liposuction has become one of the most popular “body sculpting” procedures available. As a matter of fact, it’s now most popularly known as “liposculpture.”

1. LipoLite Laser Liposculpture. This is the  liposculpture procedure that I use for small areas. I particularly appreciate this type of liposuction because it utilizes laser energy to liquefy the fat cells. It also tightens the skin in areas that traditional liposuction might leave sagging.

2. Tumescent Liposculpture. With this one, tumescent fluid that consists of saline, lidocaine and a small amount of epinephrine is administered to the fat deposits that are to be removed. This solution not only provides the local anesthetic, but also minimizes blood loss, and increases patient safety by minimizing fluid shifts.

3. Tickle Lipo. More officially known as N.I.L.( Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture), this one is called “Tickle” because the vibration motion that “shakes off” the fat cells can literally tickle. This liposculpture procedure is gaining in popularity with men. Men who work out but still can’t lose the gut or love handles enjoy the help N.I.L. gives them in finally obtaining that six-pack.

The low frequency acoustic infrasonic vibration of N.I.L. allows for the removal of body fat while respecting the surrounding tissues, resulting in a smooth contour and a rapid recovery. The process allows for precise, high volume de-bulking in all body areas.
If you’ve been exercising, working out, and dieting but still have fat deposits in areas that you just can’t seem to get rid of, call your dermatologist and determine which liposculpture procedure would be best for you.

Peculiar Tax Facts You May (or May Not) Want to Know

Tax

Tax and Fun are two words that almost never go together. Aside from those in the IRS, I bet that most of us would never equate fun with taxes.

For a change, however, we are putting together the lighter side of taxes with simple trivia that you may or may not know. These fun and not so fun facts are bound to let you in on another side of taxes that many of us hardly know.

Fun Facts

1.    Did you know that the US tax code contains over 7 million words? That’s more than other famous texts, such as the Gettysburg Address which has only 269 words and the most printed book in all of history, the Holy Bible, which has 773,000 words. Now you know which book to pull out if you want to immerse yourself in some long reading.

2.    The 16th Amendment, which established permanent income tax, was ratified in 1913.  Out of the fifty states, only four rejected the amendment: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Utah and Florida.

3.     In 1990 we had approximately 400 tax forms, but by 2002 the number increased to 526.  The tax code itself was also overhauled.  It ballooned from only 26,300 pages in 1984 to over 50,000 pages in 2003.

4.     That many pages piled together would tower to over 200 inches high- roughly nine inches taller than Shaquille O’Neal!

5.    As further proof of how much the IRS loves paper, they send out an estimated 8 billion pages in forms every year.

6.    Each year, tax payers give between 20% and 50% of their total salaries to Uncle Sam, not including the additional expense of preparing and filing taxes.

7.    We spend approximately 8 billion hours each year managing our taxes, and employ more than a million accountants to work on our tax reports.

8.    The IRS employs 106,000 workers.  That’s roughly 4,000 more people than the entire of population of Flint, Michigan.

9.    The top 1% of the wealthiest people in America have enjoyed lower and lower percentages of their income taxed for the last decade. (How about you, 99%?)

10.    New York holds the record for the highest corporate income taxes in the world.  They even beat out some strong nations, like China, Japan, and France.

11.    If you earn $100,000 in New York, roughly 38% of your income will go to taxes, while only 28% will be deducted from your payroll if you live in Dallas.

12.    Although more than 80% of Americans say that cheating on taxes is unacceptable, almost 50% of Americans neglect to pay their taxes.  A surprising 90% of those who employ housemaids and sitters are tax cheaters.

With these trivial facts in mind, perhaps you can find some humor when filing your tax return this year.

If tax facts get you all tingly, then you should consider earning an accounting degree online from one of these accounting associate’s degree programs.

Who Has the Best BBQ?

Some chicken, pork and corn in the barbeque

Image via Wikipedia

Where can the best BBQ be found?  If you travel across this country, you’ll find numerous restaurants in various states all claiming to have the best BBQ.  Texas is known for its smoked brisket, sausage, and ribs, while Memphis focuses on dry rubs for their ribs and pork dishes.  And of course, we couldn’t talk about the best BBQ in the United States without giving some love to the Kansas City style BBQ, which features slow cooked meats with sweet sauces.  Here’s a look at each regions best BBQ joint.

Texas BBQ
Coopers BBQ is renowned across Texas for their old time pit BBQ.  They now have locations across the state, but the original (and best) is in Llano, Texas.  Nestled deep in the hill country, driving to Coopers is an experience in itself, and you’ll probably need to rent a car to get here if you’re from out of town (one hint, try using a promo code for Travelocity to save money on your rental).  As you head down old country back roads, you’ll see beautiful Blue Bonnets (the state flower of Texas) lining the rolling Central Texas hills.  In the spring, bald eagles nest along the side of the road that leads to Cooper’s, so make sure to bring a pair of binoculars with you as well.

As for the BBQ itself, you will not be disappointed.  Patrons line up in droves at Cooper’s, waiting their turn to select the meats they desire from the open cooking pit.  The pork chop is probably the best item they have, so it’s highly recommended you give it a try.  You’ll also enjoy their brisket (it actually melts in your mouth), and their ribs.  Items are fairly expensive, so it’s advised that you try one or two items to start, and then come back for more if you’re still hungry.

Memphis BBQ
In many ways, Central BBQ in Memphis is the antithesis of Cooper’s.  Located in the heart of the city, this wonderful restaurant is urban and easy to get to. Like Cooper’s, however, the line is likely to be out the door as it’s quite famous.  Central BBQ is consistently rated as the best BBQ in Tennessee, and for good reason.   The Pork Plate is especially good, and features dry rubbed meat that has been slow smoked for over fourteen hours.  While more pricey, the Ribs Slab is also a great bet.  The ribs are marinated overnight in their special “rib rub,” and you can buy either a full or half portion.

Kansas City

There are so many good BBQ places in Kansas City that picking the best one is very difficult.  That being said, meat fanatics certainly can’t go wrong with Arthur Bryan’s Barbeque.  This restaurant is billed as the place that “put Kansas City on the map,” and their sauce is absolutely legendary.  All of their meats are available either as a sandwich, or by the pound, which gives you some good variety.  Both the chicken and sliced pork sandwiches are favorites here.  No matter what you order though, go ahead and pay the $4 for extra sauce, because it’ll rock your world.

If you love BBQ, you owe it to yourself to try all three of these restaurants.  Each offers a unique style that’s sure to delight the taste buds.  And while these three restaurants are amazing, each of these regions have a lot of fantastic BBQ joints, so you might as well try as many as you can while you’re there.

Stefan Georgi eats more BBQ than pretty much any other person in the U.S.  He highly recommends a travelocity promo code for car rentals.

Explaining the Sudden Increase in Salmonella Outbreaks

Color-enhanced scanning electron micrograph sh...

Guest post by Emily Murray

Anyone who has caught a glimpse of the news via TV, the Web or newspaper has undoubtedly seen the headlines lately of recent salmonella outbreaks in the United States and abroad. We can all remember the egg recall in 2010, the alfalfa sprout scare a few months ago and now, the latest, ground turkey outbreak. Of course there have been far more than just these incidents. According to the CDC since 2006, recorded salmonella outbreaks have been on the rise. In 2006 we saw 1, 2007 there were 4, 2008 & 2009 there were 3, 2010 there were 9 and now so far in 2011 we have seen 8.

So it’s becoming increasingly clear that we have a problem, but many are wondering why salmonella infections are becoming a more frequent occurrence. First let’s take a look at the basic facts and origins of salmonella.

Understanding Salmonella
Most of us are exposed to the bacteria salmonella through animal by products and are able to fight off infection with a healthy immune system. However, for the last 100 years at least, we know that people have become sick from its presence in food, in both vegetable and meat products. According to the CDC, there are roughly 40,000 cases of infections each year in the U.S. but naturally there may be even more since many do not report or even realize they have a milder case of the infection.  In addition, about 400 people die in the U.S. as a result of serious infection. The most severe cases are normally seen in young children, the elderly and those who have compromised immune systems.

So why are we hearing more about outbreaks now?

Time of Year
For one thing, it’s a known fact that outbreaks occur more frequently in summer than in the colder months of the year. The recent ground turkey outbreak comes at a time of year that we have unfortunately come to expect. In cases like this, it often takes some time to determine the source of the bacteria and in this time it continues to spread, which can cause an outbreak that tends to make national news. While the meat industry is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, they are not able to act and enforce a full recall until they are totally sure of the source. In this case, it took a total of 5 months to do this which has, of course, raised more than a few eyebrows.

Antibiotic use in Poultry
This is one aspect that has made treating salmonella a bit of a tricky process in recent years. We are seeing more and more antibiotic resistant types of salmonella emerging and many place the blame on the practice of treating poultry with antibiotics. It’s important to note that this can also happen through mutations of the DNA in the bacteria itself. While many of the problems we see with antibiotic resistant bacteria comes back to our own health system practices, there is also a belief that by giving livestock antibiotics we are perpetuating the problem and seeing more of these resistant outbreaks which are increasingly more difficult to treat. Often these antibiotics are not given to livestock for health ailments but merely to make them grow at a faster rate and as a preventative measure to avoid having to treat them later on. This is why many people are beginning to seek out organic farms that do not partake in these large scale practices.

Meat Packing Process
In recent years, what many refer to as “factory farming” has become a topic of great debate. Essentially, the old-school family farmers are beginning to vanish as large corporate farms have begun replacing them. This means that often livestock are placed in tight quarters with the main priority being profit rather than safety. Of course many argue this is not the case with many large scale farms and there will always be exceptions to the rule. In these large plants, however, preparing the meat for market is often done by a variety of people at a very fast pace which can lead to contamination and human error. It’s actually believed that in the U.S. nearly half of all meat is contaminated with some form of bacteria or another, though scientists are still unsure of the danger these types of bacteria pose to our overall health.

When I was on Las Vegas I went mostly to casinos and let me tell you that they organize quite good shows in the casinos. Besides the casinos you also have shows in theaters and show houses that are plenty. Resuming, a las vegas show is a great place to have fun and entertain yourself with some culture.

Every time I get the chance to go out and see some culture or sports I do it because it feels good and increases my intellect.

Some of the main things I really enjoy are sports, concerts and theater shows and for that matter I know a really good place to get information about the events and tickets. It’s much better to buy the tickets for your favorite events from home than having to travel all the way to the ticket shop plus waiting more time to buy them, if you buy them through the internet it’s really easy and fast.

If you need Concert Tickets this place features many tickets to shows all over the US, this way instead of going through all the trouble of buying tickets you can easily get them online.

Going to concerts is a cultural activity and its fun because you get to see a unique show of the music you like the most not to talk that at concerts you are allowed to listen to the music really loud which I think it’s a pleasure for everybody.

If you are not very much the kind of person that likes to get out of your home to enjoy yourself I urge you to reconsider and give it a try, If you go to this site you’ll find loads of information about the best events that are about to happen, this site isn’t only good to buy tickets because besides that in the site you can get to know the best events that are going to happen in your area.
