Tax and Fun are two words that almost never go together. Aside from those in the IRS, I bet that most of us would never equate fun with taxes.

For a change, however, we are putting together the lighter side of taxes with simple trivia that you may or may not know. These fun and not so fun facts are bound to let you in on another side of taxes that many of us hardly know.

Fun Facts

1.    Did you know that the US tax code contains over 7 million words? That’s more than other famous texts, such as the Gettysburg Address which has only 269 words and the most printed book in all of history, the Holy Bible, which has 773,000 words. Now you know which book to pull out if you want to immerse yourself in some long reading.

2.    The 16th Amendment, which established permanent income tax, was ratified in 1913.  Out of the fifty states, only four rejected the amendment: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Utah and Florida.

3.     In 1990 we had approximately 400 tax forms, but by 2002 the number increased to 526.  The tax code itself was also overhauled.  It ballooned from only 26,300 pages in 1984 to over 50,000 pages in 2003.

4.     That many pages piled together would tower to over 200 inches high- roughly nine inches taller than Shaquille O’Neal!

5.    As further proof of how much the IRS loves paper, they send out an estimated 8 billion pages in forms every year.

6.    Each year, tax payers give between 20% and 50% of their total salaries to Uncle Sam, not including the additional expense of preparing and filing taxes.

7.    We spend approximately 8 billion hours each year managing our taxes, and employ more than a million accountants to work on our tax reports.

8.    The IRS employs 106,000 workers.  That’s roughly 4,000 more people than the entire of population of Flint, Michigan.

Warehouse management software

I have a really tough job because my job is to manage a really big warehouse. Managing a warehouse isn’t easy especially when it’s big and has a lot of things coming in and out all the time. I used to keep track of what went in and out on paper but many times it would turn into a mess and I would lose track of some things. I spent a lot of time using paper because the computer didn’t have proper software to account for what was going in and out.

The other day in the pub I was talking about this problem to a friend of mine and he told me to take a look in the internet for warehouse management software and that was exactly what I’ve done. It took me some time to find the right software because I had to read a lot of reviews to find the right software, the one that would work perfectly.

The other day I was having trouble with money because my car broke down and I didn’t have enough money to fix it. The real problem is that I needed the car to get to work and without it I wouldn’t get paid for the days I missed work and I might even lose my job. Nowadays losing the job I have would be big trouble and because of that I decided to look for some loans so that I could fix my car. Watch Out For Debt Settlement Fraud

Settling your debts for a fraction of what you owe, sounds pretty tempting, isn’t it? However, companies that promise to help you to do this are often fraudulent, consumer advocacy website Debt Settlement Fraud warns. With thousands of people buried deep in debts and Debt Settlement Company’s popularity soaring high, debt settlement business is ripe for scammers. Debt Settlement salespeople, generally masquerade as genuine professionals and make impossible promises to lure you into a settlement plan. Sometimes, even this debt settlement scam misleads you about the consequences of debt settlement on your credit bureau reports as well. Most of the times these phony companies fail to negotiate settlements with the creditors and leave the task incomplete. Their real intention of these scam companies is to earn a commission or to collect up-front fees from you, even though the law prohibits advance payment. Stay alert and read on to know the ways to keep such debt settlement fraud at bay.

  • If the debt settlement company solicits you by phone, your first and foremost duty is to ask them for their contact information. Fake companies generally refuse to give out a name and address and insist on immediate enrollment and payment for their programs. Immediately hang up, cease and desist further communication with such companies and seek out a debt settlement firm on your own.

  • Better Business Bureau is the best place to check the debt settlement company’s rating. Unethical companies generally assure you that there is no negative impact of settlement on your credit, while the truth is your credit score is bound to go down, when you stop paying your bills to save up money for a settlement. Moreover, the late and missed payments leading up to your settlement usually appear on your credit reports for seven long years and creditors can still call you to demand payment until a settlement agreement is reached. Lastly, while you continue to rack up late payment fees, your creditor can refuse to agree to a settlement plan or can sue you for it as well. However, a legitimate settlement company is honest about all these possibilities and generally warns you beforehand.
